Anna Stangl is a contemporary Austrian painter and draftswoman. 1979 - 1983 she studied journalism and political science at the University of Vienna. 1983 - 1986 followed studies in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and 1986 - 1987 at the ecole nationale superieure des beaux-arts de Paris. Stangl's works can be found in the collections of the Albertina, the Leopold Museum and the Museum der Moderne Rupertinum. Her pictorial stories revolve around women and girls, dreams and fantasies, the conscious and the unconscious in a vegetal context. The focus is on the human body, especially the female body, as in the two nudes, the lovers who, like Adam and Eve, are reconciled in paradise.
