Antikenrezeption "Betender Knabe aus Rhodos"
19. Jh., verso Gießerstempel Akt.-Ges. Gladenbeck, weitere undeutliche Nummer D1484?, Bronze braun und grün patiniert, Nachbildung eines um 1500 in Rhodos ausgegrabenen Originals, das um 300 v. Chr. datiert wird und ohne Arme aufgefunden wurde, es befand sich im Besitz namhafter Persönlichkeiten wie beispielsweise Friedrich II., wo es im Schloss Sanssouci aufgestellt war und kam später als Kriegsbeute durch Napoleon I. in den Louvre, heute befindet es sich in den Kunstsammlungen in Berlin (Inventarnummer SKII), mit den Besitzwechseln änderten sich auch die Deutungen zum Motiv, heute ist es jedoch allgemein als Betender Knabe bekannt, auf kleiner Onyxschale montiert, diese mit kleinen restaurierten Fehlstellen, Altersspuren, H Bronze 12,5 cm, H gesamt 15,5 cm.
Antique Reception "Praying Boy from Rhodes"
19th century, foundry mark Akt.-Ges. Gladenbeck on the reverse, further indistinct number D1484?, brown and green patinated bronze, replica of an original excavated in Rhodes around 1500, which is dated around 300 BC and was found without arms, it was owned by well-known personalities such as Frederick II, where it was displayed in Sanssouci Palace and later came to the Louvre as a spoil of war by Napoleon I, today it is in the art collections in Berlin (inventory number SKII), with the changes in ownership the interpretations of the motif also changed, today it is generally known as the Praying Boy, mounted on a small onyx bowl, this with small restored losses, signs of age, h bronze 12.5 cm, h total 15.5 cm.
