Portrait of an elegantly dressed elderly gentleman, with walking stick and hat in hand, sitting on a chair, partially impasto portrait painting, oil on canvas, early 20th century, unsigned, inscribed "Kummer" on the reverse of the canvas, small dent in the canvas lower left, framed, folding dimensions approx. 77.5 x 63.5 cm. Artist's info: German painter (1865 Kehl am Rhein to 1948 Munich), pupil of Paul Schultze-Naumburg, briefly pupil of Hermann Groeber, largely self-taught, from 1916 in Munich attended the exhibitions in the Glaspalast and in the Kunstverein, member of the Munich Artists' Association, in the Reichsverband Bildender Künstler Deutschlands, in the Munich Artists' Association and the Free Artists' Association Baden, active first in Strasbourg, from 1894 in Munich, Source: Thieme-Becker, Dressler and Internet.
