Heinrich Kley, Sketch sheet
Study sheet with various partly martial scenes, inscribed on both sides, ink pen on paper, c. 1910, each page signed and dedicated "Kley für M. Koch", paper wavy, waterstained and yellowed, mounted between two panes of glass, sheet measures c. 17 x 26 cm. Artist's info: German painter, draughtsman, etcher and illustrator (1863 Karlsruhe to 1945 Munich), 1880-85 studied at the Karlsruhe Kunstschule, from 1901 he supplied templates for postcards for the Krupp cast steel factory in Essen, in the following years also worked as an industrial painter for various companies such as Voith, Grün & Bilfinger and MAN, contributor to Simplicissimus and Jugend, ended his collaboration with all publishers when Hitler seized power, source: Thieme-Becker, Vollmer and Wikipedia.
