Porcelain sign in absolutely impressive large format, bevelled, stenciled and lithographed, Olso/NOR circa 1928, 146 x 247 cm, a true "enamel poster", as they hung on large buildings across the Nordic country at the time, they could be made out from a long distance - in such beautiful, authentic original condition, the sign is a true splendour, the portrait of the boy reminiscent of a Charlie Chaplin figure is almost untouched, minor visible injuries at the edge and in the background, gloss and colours almost perfectly preserved. The (advertising) effect of the motif is of course impressively enhanced by the sheer size. It is the second shield of this design that we are allowed to offer in our auctions - the boy was delivered by sea a good year ago and from then on thrilled everyone in our showrooms who saw him larger than life in front of them. Even though this auction is not stingy with highlights, it is now time to comply with the consignor's wish and present this rarity of Scandinavian enamel advertising to you. GERMAN DESCRIPTION:Emailschild in absolut beeindruckendem Großformat, abgekantet, schabloniert und lithographiert, Olso/NOR um 1928, 146 x 247 cm, ein wahres "Emailleplakat", wie sie seinerzeit an großen Gebäuden quer durch das nordische Land hingen, schon aus weiter Entfernung waren sie auszumachen - in solch schönem, authentischem Originalzustand ist das Schild eine wahre Pracht, das Bildnis des an eine Charlie-Chaplin Figur erinnernden Jungen ist nahezu unberührt, am Rand und im Hintergrund kleinere sichtbare Verletzungen, Glanz und Farben nahezu perfekt erhalten. Die (Werbe)-Wirkung des Motivs wird durch die schier unglaubliche Größe natürlich nochmals eindrucksvoll verstärkt. Es ist das zweite Schild dieser Ausführung, dass wir in unseren Auktionen anbieten dürfen - der Junge wurde vor gut einem Jahr über den Seeweg angeliefert und begeisterte in unseren Ausstellungsräumen fortan jedermann, der ihn überlebensgroß vor sich sah. Auch wenn diese Auktion nicht mit Highlights geizt, ist es nun also an der Zeit dem Wunsch des Einlieferers zu entsprechen und Ihnen diese Rarität skandinavischer Emaille-Reklame vorführen.
