Instead of attending an art school or academy, Heinz Steiner received his artistic training as a private student of Georg Merkel. His works were mainly devoted to landscapes, the working-class milieu and Arcadian themes. In 1927 he was given the opportunity to exhibit at the Hagenbund for the first time, and ten years later he became a member himself. Due to the modernist tendencies of his paintings, in which he intensively explored Cubism, he was partially banned from exhibiting in 1938. After the end of the Second World War, he continued his work as a member of the Vienna Secession and took part in numerous exhibitions at home and abroad.
PLEASE NOTE:
The purchase price consists of the highest bid plus the buyer's premium, sales tax and, if applicable, the fee of artists resale rights. In the case of normal taxation (marked °), a premium of 24% is added to the highest bid. The mandatory sales tax of 13%, for photographys 20%, is added to the sum of the highest bid and the buyer's premium. The buyer's premium amounts to 28% in case of differential taxation. The sales tax is included in the differential taxation.
