The Austrian painter Emil Felix Ludwig von Gerliczy was born at Wolfsbuechel Castle in Oberkrain (Kranjska). He served as an officer in the Austro-Hungarian Army until his marriage to Baroness Louise Anna von Korff in 1897. The couple moved to Dresden, and Gerliczy studied at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts under Robert Sterl. Gerliczy became a member of Deutscher Kuenstlerbund (German Artists' Association) and the Dresdner Kuenstlervereinigung (Dresden Artists' Association). From 1907, he was in Dresden in the circle of young Expressionist artists around Conrad Felixmueller, Erich Heckel (founder of artists’ group Bruecke) and Emil Nolde. In 1919, he visited Spain, Tunisia, France, Greece, Egypt and Turkey.
PLEASE NOTE:
The purchase price consists of the highest bid plus the buyer's premium, sales tax and, if applicable, the fee of artists resale rights. In the case of normal taxation (marked °), a premium of 24% is added to the highest bid. The mandatory sales tax of 13%, for photographys 20%, is added to the sum of the highest bid and the buyer's premium. The buyer's premium amounts to 28% in case of differential taxation. The sales tax is included in the differential taxation.
