The Belgian-Dutch painter and draftswoman Edith van Leckwyck studied with Jules Schmalzigaug in The Hague. In 1918 she moved to her birthplace Antwerp. From 1918 to 1923 she was married to the Persian prince Mirza Mahmoud Khan. From 1923 she was a student of Willem Paerels and Floris Jespers. From 1931 she taught at the School of Arts and Crafts in Antwerp. In 1935 she married the painter Heinrich Campendonck.
