Siegfried Buchta, or Siegfried Charoux, was an Austrian-British sculptor, painter, draftsman and cartoonist. During the World War, he made the first sculptural attempts and acquaintance with the painters Robin Christian Andersen, Eugen Sturm-Skrla and Johann Kodanich, later with Gustav Schuett and Broncia Koller-Pinell. Charoux turned to sculpture entirely in 1919 and began studying private studies with Josef Heu; 1922 - 1924 he studied with Hans Bitterlich at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. 1923-1928 Charoux operated as a political cartoonist at the Arbeiter-Zeitung and other left and left-liberal leaves. With a draft for a Robert Blum monument, he made his debut at Kunstschau in 1927. In 1935 Charoux 'monument was unveiled for Gotthold Ephraim Lessing at Wiener Judenplatz. In 1935 Charoux emigrated to London. In 1940 he was interned on the Isle of Man. Since 1946 British citizens, he became Associate of the Royal Academy (A.R.A.) in 1949 and fully member (R.A.) in 1956. He taught at the Royal Academy Sculpture School and received several public orders in the UK and Austria. In Charoux 'picturesque work, watercolors and cover colors dominate in the early and medium creative periods. Towards the end of the 1950s, he is increasingly experimenting with acrylic. Preferred topics are still lifes, landscapes (especially cornwall, guest), music and studies on its plastic work. In his extensive drawing work, figure studies and memorial designs predominate.
