Bronze of the victor messenger of Marathon by Max Kruse. Full sculptural nude depiction of the runner of Marathon on a stepped, naturalistic plinth . Exhausted, he delivers the message of victory in the form of a laurel branch. Frontally titled "Nenikhkamen" (We have won) and laterally signed "Max Kruse". Marked on the back with foundry mark "Akt.-Ges. Gladenbeck Berlin". Black patinated bronze around 1900 in very good condition and the rare height of over 55cm! Weight 8.2kgMax Kruse studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin, where he graduated in sculpture under Fritz Schaper and Albert Wolff in 1879. Auf der Rückseite versehen mit Gießereimarke "Akt.-Ges. Gladenbeck Berlin". Schwarz patinierte Bronze um 1900 in sehr gutem Zustand und der seltenen Höhe von über 55cm! Gewicht 8.2kgMax Kruse studierte an der königlich-akademischen Hochschule der bildenden Künste nach Berlin, an der er das Studium der Bildhauerei unter Fritz Schaper und Albert Wolff 1879 abschloss. Bekannt wurde er mit der Statue Siegerbote von Marathon welche ihm 1881 auf der Akademieausstellung eine Goldmedaille und den Rompreis einbrachte.Provenienz: Süddeutsche Privatsammlung
