PORCELAIN ENSEMBLE OF FREEMASONS AT THE TABLE.

Maker/Designer: Model J. J. Kaendler.
Technique: Porcelain, painted in colours and sparingly golden.
Description: Gallant lady in an armchair decorated with rocailles, sitting at a table with a marble
top. An embroidered cushion lies on the table in front of her. To her left, a gallant
gentleman bends towards her whom she gazes at affectionately.
Measurement: 18,5x25x15cm.
Mark: Verso swords mark, painted blue under glaze. Painter's number 79. Model number 551, porcelain former's number 95. Additionally embossed '112 LW 75 P'.
During the 1740s, Kaendler devoted himself to the subject of Freemasonry. Many noblemen
who were close to the Enlightenment joined the lodges to pursue secret rituals as
"builders" of humanist ideals. Kaendler designed porcelain groups of noblemen who joined
this order.
