Technique: Laubholz-Einzeltafel mit zwei Stirnseiten-Sponki. Ölmalerei auf Kreidegrund, vergoldeter Hintergrund und Rand ornamental punziert

A RARE ICON SHOWING STS. BARLAAM AND JOSAPHAT Russian, Sergiyev Posad, Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius, Ivan Malyshev, late 19th century Jh. Oil on wood panel. On gold tooled background, the frame made of interlaced patterns. Cyrillic inscribed on the lower border: ‘The image of Josaphat Tsarevich painted from a drawing in the Museum of Antiquities of the Academy of Fine Arts’. Minimally restored. 30.9 x 26 cm.
