After 34 successful auctions with countless world record prices for cameras, I handed the camera auctions over to a group, also to concentrate on the WestLicht Photo and Camera Museum, the OstLicht Photo Gallery and the OstLicht Photo Auctions. However, when I was recently offered a private lover's fantastic collection, I couldn't resist the temptation. Especially since this man acquired most of the pieces he collected from me over the course of many years and always attached great importance to perfect condition and originality. Rare and early camera with focal plane shutter for 9x12cm exposures on dry plates, walnut body with metal plaque engraved 'PATENT ANSCHÜTZ C.P.GOERZ BERLIN', brass lens engraved 'C.P. GOERZ Berlin EXTRA RAPID-LYNKEIOSKOP Serie 6 No.1' with iris diaphragm, original focal-plane shutter stamped 'Ottomar Anschütz Lissa / Posen / D.R.Patent No. 49919', metal frame finder, camera in very fine original condition with focussing screen. Ottomar Anschütz developed the 'moment shutter' in 1888. This allowed the photographer considerably shorter exposure times. In 1890, Anschütz sold his patent to the Optische Anstalt C.P. Goerz. This Berlin company built the first camera with a focal-plane shutter, the Goerz-Anschütz-Moment camera, a milestone in camera history.
