We are pleased to be able to present the camera auction on June 1, 2023 at 2 p.m. in OstLicht, gallery for photography. 1991 was the year of birth of the first Leica shop worldwide, in 2001 my team and I started the WestLicht auction house in Vienna. After 34 successful auctions with countless world record prices for cameras, I handed the camera auctions over to a group, also to concentrate on the WestLicht Photo and Camera Museum, the OstLicht Photo Gallery and the OstLicht Photo Auctions. However, when I was recently offered a private lover's fantastic collection, I couldn't resist the temptation. Especially since this man acquired most of the pieces he collected from me over the course of many years and always attached great importance to perfect condition and originality. The result is a collection that we are now offering with great pleasure in this auction. The traditional OstLicht Photo Auction begins on June 2 at 5 p.m. CEST. We cordially invite you to come to Vienna or to participate as a long-distance bidder. Our long-standing auctioneer Niki Schauerhuber and the team look forward to welcoming you.

Leica IIIc + MOOLY-C Chrome no.3508 Preseries
SN: 369640
Year/Baujahr: 1941
Condition/Zustand: B+
English
War-time Leica IIIc in fine and working condition with red shutter blind, Summitar 2/5cm no.521810 in near mint condition with cap. Spring wound motor drive MOOLY-C in chrome no.3508, with longer chassis and internal coupling for Leica models IIIc and IIId. The regular MOOLY-C series starts with serial no.5001, whereas this chrome model is from a small pre-series of 50 units (serial no. 3495 to 3546) which were made in 1940 and are marked in the Leitz Wetzlar shipping records 'MOOLY für Gusskamera' (Guss meaning the die-cast body of the Leica IIIc and IIId). A chrome MOOLY-C – besides the grey version – is one of the rarest Leica accessories from the World War II era, a specimen from the pre-series is almost impossible to find. Exactly this Motor is described and illustrated by Camille Heimfert in '10 Jahre Leica Historica', Leica Historica e.V., 1985, p. 79.
Deutsch
