The collection of Prof. Dr. Rudolph Ewerhart (1928-2022).

Since 1982 Rudolf Ewerhart lived with his wife Helene in the late baroque Burghaus Wassenach near the Laacher See, the aristocratic residence of the Knights of Kolb built from 1772-1775. Parallel to the extensive renovation

In 1996 he organized exclusive concerts in the “Music in the Burghaus Wassenach” series in the hall of the mansion, at which newly acquired or freshly restored instruments from the collection in the were the focus.

The present trapezoidal, colour-framed instrument was additionally richly decorated with colourful chinoiseries in the form of birds and vines. When opening the lid, ochre-coloured chinoiserie in the form of fancy birds and plants on a red background can be seen on the music stand. The original jacks do not have any dampers.
The instrument has been restored and is in playing condition. The tuning pins appear to be (at least) partly original but are drilled. The restoration of the painting was carried out by Edgar Jetter in spring 2000.
The keyboard (C-c3 [C, D, E, F, G, A-c3 as short octave]) has a 3-octave-span of 44.8 cm. The instrument is equipped with Delrin.
The c1-scale (speaking c2) is 306mm, the f1-scale (speaking f2) is 232mm.
The c2-scale (speaking c3) is 150mm, the f2-scale (speaking f3) is 119mm.
