Since 1982 Rudolf Ewerhart lived with his wife Helene in the late baroque Burghaus Wassenach near the Laacher See, the aristocratic residence of the Knights of Kolb built from 1772-1775. Parallel to the extensive renovation
In 1996 he organized exclusive concerts in the “Music in the Burghaus Wassenach” series in the hall of the mansion, at which newly acquired or freshly restored instruments from the collection in the were the focus.

CONVOLUTE DOVECOTE ZITHER AND SMALL-HEADED ZITHER/CITERA, HUNGARY, 19TH/20TH CENTURY
A convolute consisting of one of the dovecote/pigeonry zither and one small-headed zither from the Hungarian cultural area, possibly 19th-20th century. Both instruments are unplayable and show various signs of age and use.
The folk dovecote zither (the instrument resembles a historical dovecote in its shape) has 20 strings (6 of which are fingerboard strings) and two sound holes, which consist of 6 holes arranged in a circle. Under the fingerboard there are 4 more sound holes.
In front of the fingerboard are tone letters (solmisation).
Dimensions: Length: 78.2cm, width: 17.8cm, height: 10.5cm.
The small-headed zither from Szeged (also: fingerboard zither with four tuning pins) has two round sound holes in the top. The instrument has 10 pegs.
Inside the instrument there is an inscription in Hungarian: "Készitdte: Krizsán Pál 1927 Hodmező-Vásárhély Fdujitotta: Majzik Mihály Szeged, 1963." (English: Made by Krizsán Pál 1927 Hodmezö-Vásárhély Restored by: Majzik Mihály Szeged, 1963)
