lichte Sommerlandschaft mit morbidem Gartenzaun und Teich unter mächtigen Laubbäumen, pastose, romantische Landschaftsmalerei, Öl auf Leinwand, um 1890, rechts unten ligiert monogrammiert "AR", rückseitig auf dem Keilrahmen bezeichnet "Rathouis" und undeutlich frz. betitelt "la mare de la Bretonnerie", Craquelure, geschlossene Fehlstellen in der Leinwand, restauriert, im schönen Stuckrahmen mit neuzeitlichem Messingrahmenschild "A. Rathouis Eleve-Harpignies" gerahmt, Falzmaße ca. 45,5 x 53,5 cm. Künstlerinfo: eigentlich Louis Thomas Arthur Rathouis, irrtümlich auch Rathonis, frz. Landschaftsmaler, Glasmaler und Aquarellmaler sowie Architekt und Eisenbahningenieur (1838 Nantes/Loire-Atlantique bis 1895 Nantes), zur Ausbildung zeitweise in Paris, studierte 1856-58 mit Empfehlungsschreiben von Lebas an der Akademie der Schönen Künste Paris Architektur bei Hippolyte Lebas und Malerei bei Henri Harpignies, ab 1884 als Ingenieur im Staatsdienst angestellt, Quelle: Thieme-Becker, Saur "Bio-Bibliographisches Künstlerlexikon", Bénézit und Internet.

Artist's note: actually Louis Thomas Arthur Rathouis, erroneously also Rathonis, French landscape painter, glass painter and stained glass artist.
