um 1900, an der Plinthe bez. Coustou, Bronze dunkel patiniert, verkleinerte Version der sich heute im Louvre befindlichen Skulptur, welche er zwischen 1740 und 1745 für das Château de Marly Ludwigs des XV. schuf, äußerst dekorative Darstellung eines athletischen jungen Mannes bei dem Versuch, mit all seiner Kraft ein sich wild aufbäumendes, gezügeltes und mit einem Fell gesatteltes Ross zu bändigen, auf naturalistisch ausgearbeiteter Plinthe, H 20 cm. Künstlerinfo: französischer Maler und Bildhauer (1677-1746), Bruder von Nicolas Coustou, 1697 Gewinner des römischen Akademiepreises, Studienreise nach Rom, wo er bei Pierre Legros arbeitete, 1700 Rückkehr nach Paris, 1704 Mitglied der königlichen Akademie, 1715 wurde er Professor der Akademie und 1833 Rektor, Werke Coustous befinden sich u.a. in der Schlosskapelle zu Versailles und im Museum des Louvre, Quelle: Wikipedia sowie Thieme-Becker/Vollmer, Allgemeines Lexikon der Bildenden Künstler.

Circa 1900, inscribed Coustou on the plinth, dark patinated bronze, reduced version of the sculpture now in the Louvre, which he created between 1740 and 1745 for Louis XV's Château de Marly. The extremely decorative depiction of an athletic young man attempting with all his strength to tame a wildly rearing, bridled horse saddled with a hide, on a naturalistic plinth, h 20 cm. Artist information: French painter and sculptor (1677-1746), brother of Nicolas Coustou, 1697 winner of the Roman Academy Prize, study trip to Rome where he worked with Pierre Legros, 1700 return to Paris, 1704 member of the Royal Academy, 1715 he became professor of the Academy and 1833 rector, works by Coustou can be found in the Palace Chapel at Versailles and in the Louvre Museum, among others, source: Wikipedia and Thieme-Becker/Vollmer, Allgemeines Lexikon der Bildenden Künstler.
