Picture of a man reading a newspaper, thinly glazed, partially slightly impasto painting, oil on hardboard, c. 1950, unsigned, titled on the reverse "Portrait Helmut Krause" and modern label "Nachlass Rudolf Lemke - 1906 Gallow - Jena 1957 - Sammlung S. Lemke", beautifully framed in a shadow gap frame, picture measures approx. 48 x 27 cm. Artist's info: actually Rudolf Hermann Lemke, German psychiatrist, neurologist, university lecturer as well as recreational painter and lithographer (1906 Gollnow until 1957 Jena), studied medicine at the universities of Jena, Vienna, Freiburg and Berlin, 1928 state examination, from 1934 part-time at the Erbgesundheitsgericht and Erbgesundheitsobergericht in Jena, from 1939 member of the NSDAP, during World War II doctor in the nervous system in Jena. During the Second World War, he was a doctor in the nervous department of the military hospital in Jena, appointed medical councillor in 1940 and professor in 1942.
