still lake in a wooded, slightly hilly landscape, with several barges lying on the shore, probably depicted near Berlin, landscape painting with beautiful treatment of the light, oil on linen-laminated painting board, late 19th cent, signed lower right "G. Meissner", on the reverse typewritten note with some dates of the artist's life and handwritten annotation "Havel", restored, in need of cleaning, framed, folding dimensions approx. 31.5 x 48.5 cm. Artist's info: also Meißner, German landscape painter and etcher (1830 Marienwerder/East Prussia to 1901 Zehlendorf near Berlin), studied at the Königsberg Art Academy, 1857 participated in an exhibition at the Königsberg Art Society, went to Munich for four years, worked in Düsseldorf, Cologne, Weimar, Friedenau and Berlin, among others, Source: Thieme-Becker, Boetticher and Wikipedia.
