Idyllic morning view of the Hintersee [also Ferchensee or Forchensee] in Ramsau in the Berchtesgadener Land, with hikers in front of a farmhouse on the lakeshore, in front of the imposing high mountain backdrop of the Hochkalter massif, low impasto landscape painting with a brushstroke full of character in luminous colours, oil on wine canvas, signed, place-named and dated "C. Leopold Mchn. 99 [Munich 1899]", on the reverse titled and signed on the stretcher "Bayrische Hochgebirge - Hintersee mit Hochkalter (Morgenstimmung) ... von C. Leopold München", minimal cracks in the paint, slight need of cleaning, framed, folding dimensions approx. 42 x 67 cm.
