Early spring-like landscape of the Ore Mountains with a view from an elevated vantage point of the village on the Zwickauer Mulde, which today belongs to Aue-Bad Schlema, watercolour, signed and dated at lower left "E. Hecker [19]72", on the reverse obituary of the artist, photograph of the artist and previous owner's annotations, somewhat faded and with light margins, framed behind glass and mount, mount cut-out approx. 34 x 47 cm. Artist info: actually Heinrich Ernst Hecker, German landscape and portrait painter. Landscape and portrait painter, etcher, lithographer and commercial artist (1907 Aue until 1983 Aue), 1922-26 apprenticeship as engraver and lithographer, artistically mostly self-taught, 1927-33 working as commercial artist, 1943-44 studied at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Dresden under Hanns Hanner, from 1945 freelance in Aue, member of the Verband Bildender Künstler (VBK) of the GDR, participated in the art exhibitions of the GDR, received various honours such as the Max-Pechstein-Prize in 1956, worked in Aue in the Erzgebirge, Source: Vollmer, AKL, Saur "Bio-Bibliographisches Künstlerlexikon", Eisold "Künstler in der DDR", Rochhaus "Künstlerlexikon Erzgebirge" and Wikipedia.
