Three gentlemen in the parlour, discussing the daily paper with a lot of gestures and in the background a laughing innkeeper, watercolour and opaque paint, signed, inscribed and dated "Peter Kraemer München 1919" at lower left, slightly yellowed, framed behind glass in an approx. 12.5 cm wide Munich moulding (with minor losses), folding dimensions approx. 29 x 35.5 cm. Artist info: German genre painter (1857 Philadelphia until 1936? Dießen am Ammersee), son of the genre painter Peter Kraemer I. (1823 Zweibrücken until 1907 Brooklyn) and father of the painter Peter Kraemer III. (1896 Munich to 1972 Dießen am Ammersee), studied from 1871 at the Stuttgart Academy with Bernhard von Neher and from 1873 at the Munich Academy with Alexander Strähuber, Ferdinand Barth and Otto Seitz, member of the Reichsverband Bildender Künstler Deutschlands and the Münchner Künstlergenossenschaft, active in Munich, probably moved to Dießen am Ammersee around 1930, source: Thieme-Becker, Dressler, Matrikel der Münchner Akademie and internet.
