also called "Fantasy Portrait of an Older Man with Hat and Coat with Fur Collar", bust portrait of a well-to-do older gentleman, copper engraving, ligatured monogram in the right area and dated "HG A. (15)97", stitched on backing cardboard, brownish stains, slight traces of ink, small margins around the edging line, dimensions approx. 19,2 x 15,9 cm. Artist info: important Dutch painter and graphic artist (1558 Bracht to 1616 Venlo or 1617 Harlem), pupil of Philipp Galle and Dirck Volkertszoon Coornhert, founded a copperplate printing press, from 1590 extensive travels to Italy and Germany, from 1600 produced first paintings, teacher of Pieter de Jode the Elder, Jakob de Gheyn II, Jakob Matham and Jan Saenredam, Source: Thieme-Becker, Wikipedia and Internet.
