dated "(19)94" and monogrammed "CP" in a square, numbered 5/5, dark and greenish fibreglass, polished bronze mask, satirical depiction of a Neanderthal, holding a finely worked mask of a Homo Sapiens in one visible hand, which he half holds out to himself, a small loss at the shoulder, otherwise in good condition for age, h 170 cm. Artist info: German sculptor (1949 Gräfenthal to 2021 Erfurt-Tiefthal), 1963-1967 apprenticeship as porcelain modeller in Gräfenthal, 1968-1971 studied theatre sculpture at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts, 1971-1980 worked at the Erfurt Municipal Theatres and the German National Theatre in Weimar as theatre sculptor, from 1980 freelance, 1979-1986 teaching position "sculptural design" at the Museum for Prehistory and Early History of Thuringia in Weimar, founding member of the cultural association "Mauernbrechen", based in Tiefthal near Erfurt.
