Arno Breker, "Die Demut"
Draft c. 1940, execution 2nd half of the 19th century, signed "Arno Breker", numbered 201/300, foundry stamp Venturi Arte, dark patinated bronze, standing female nude with hair band, her gaze pensively lowered to the ground and her hands raised to her shoulders, on a small rectangular base, traces of paint on the inside of the right arm, otherwise in good condition for its age, h 58 cm. Artist's info: German sculptor, draughtsman and graphic artist (1900 Elberfeld - 1991 Düsseldorf), first apprenticeship as a stone sculptor and attendance of the Kunstgewerbeschule Elberfeld, studied from 1920-25 at the Düsseldorf Academy under Hubert Netzer, 1927-33 resident in Paris, 1933 Rome Prize and 8-month stay at the German Academy Rome (Villa Massimo), 1937-45 professorship for sculpture at the HBK Berlin, among others active in Wemding, Paris and Düsseldorf, Source: Cf.
