Fine Louis XV chest of drawers Antoine Gosselin Paris
Paris, circa 1760, signed on the right front post, stamped name GOSSELIN as well as JVE ligatured, rosewood and kingwood veneered on oak, three-sided cambered corpus with two large and two small drawers, in between small secret compartment, original magnificent brass fittings finely punched and gilded, also original marble top with double profiled edge, original locks, keys missing, old restored, dimensions 90 x 130 x 65 cm. Info: Antoine Gosselin (1731-1794), master from 1752, travelled as a very young man from Amiens to Paris, where he worked as an ebenist in the Rue du Faubourg-Saint-Antoine until the revolution and quickly gained an excellent reputation, he mainly created Louis XV furniture.
