Rolf Diener, Abstrakte Komposition
abstract composition of black contoured forms, predominantly designed in shades of blue and green as well as some red and violet, little impasto, painting done with a broad brushstroke, oil on hardboard, circa 1960 or 1970, signed lower right "R. Diener", stamp on the reverse "Nachlass Rolf Diener", minor craquelures, framed, folding dimensions approx. 44 x 60.5 cm. Artist info: German painter, draughtsman and graphic artist (1906 Gößnitz to 1988 Hamburg), since 1910 resident in Hamburg, attended the Landeskunstschule Hamburg from 1927 to 1931, there trained by Arthur Illies, during the Third Reich employed as a toolmaker, since 1945 again artistically active, from 1948 to 1951 studied with Arnold Fiedler at the "Baukreis" in Hamburg, influenced by confrontation with decisive currents of classical modernism, from 1950 turning to abstract painting, 1957 solo exhibition at the Hamburger Kunsthalle, annual participation in the exhibition of Hamburg artists, Source: Thieme-Becker, Wikipedia.
