A barn standing in a snowy landscape under bare trees in the light of the waning day, large-format watercolour for the artist over a sparse graphite preparatory drawing, signed and dated "AHennig (19)82" at lower left, various notations on the back of the frame, including the indication "Zur Vorlage für Kalender 2004 siehe Dezemberbild", framed behind glass, folding dimensions approx. 30.5 x 35 cm. Artist's info: Germ. Painter, photographer and graphic artist (1907 Leipzig - 1998 Zwickau), studied 1932-33 with a scholarship at the Bauhaus Dessau/Berlin with Joost Schmidt, Mies van der Rohe, Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee and Josef Albers, afterwards unemployed, 1935-45 conscripted as construction worker, after 1945 founding member of the group "Bildender Künstler" at the Kulturbund Zwickau, from 1952 member of the Verband Bildender Künstler (VBK) of the GDR, because of disagreement with dogmatic cultural functionaries, 1952-72 worked as a concrete builder, in his spare time produced a significant body of work in the Bauhaus tradition, from 1972 freelance and increasing recognition of his work in the GDR too, received numerous awards, including the Max Pechstein Prize and the Federal Cross of Merit, worked in Zwickau , source: Vollmer, Eisold "Maler in der DDR" and Internet.
