Artist's info: actually Wilhelm Max Karl Schestak, German-Czech painter, draughtsman.Czech painter, draughtsman, enamel artist and graphic artist (1918 Mariaschein near Graupen [Bohosudov near Krupka] until 2012 Burgstädt), 1932-35 pupil at the Reichenberg School of Arts and Crafts under Erich Fraaß and von Friedensfels, studied 1935-40 at the Prague Academy under Heinrich Hönich, 1940-45 military service in World War II, from 1945 freelance artist. World War II, from 1945 freelance in Chemnitz, study visits to the ČSSR, undertook study trips to Paris, Siberia, Yugoslavia and Central Asia, member of the Verband Bildender Künstler (VBK) of the GDR, representative of socialist realism, attended numerous art exhibitions in the GDR, received numerous honours, including the Albrecht Dürer Prize of the city of Nuremberg, worked in Karl-Marx-Stadt (Chemnitz), later in Hartmannsdorf and from 1999 in Burgstädt in Saxony, Source: Vollmer, Eisold "Artists in the GDR" and Wikipedia.
