View along a birch-lined path into sunny heath landscape, low impasto landscape painting, oil on canvas, c. 1950, signed lower left "Opitz", slight need of cleaning, originally framed, folding dimensions approx. 80.5 x 100.5 cm. Artist info: German painter, draughtsman, sgraffito artist and graphic artist (1919 Elsterberg to 2011 Elsterberg), first apprenticeship as a decorative painter, studied at the Plauen University of Art and Design. 1937/38 at the Plauen School of Art and Textile Industry, 1939-48 war service and imprisonment, 1942/43 guest student at the Berlin Academy with Paul Thol, Wilhelm Tank and Wilhelm Becker, 1948 return to Elsterberg and here freelance from 1952, from 1952 member of the Association of Visual Artists (VBK) of the GDR, active in Elsterberg, source: Vollmer, Eisold "Künstler in der DDR", Frank Weiß "Malerei im Vogtland" and internet.
