Manfred Bofinger, Das Hochzeitspaar
Cat in a wedding dress with a mouse as the groom and joined at the feet with wedding rings, ink pencil and watercolour, signed in lead "Bofinger" below the image, inscribed at the lower edge of the sheet "Illustr. zu Flotte Sprüche, Buchverlag f. d. Frau, Leipzig 1998", framed under mount and behind glass, mount cut-out approx. 27.5 x 20 cm. Artist's info: called Bofi, important German caricaturist and graphic artist (1941 Berlin until 2006 Berlin), from 1959 apprenticeship as typesetter, 1961-68 typographer for the Eulenspiegel, freelance work and autodidactic occupation with caricature, 1972-89 member of the Association of Journalists of the GDR, 1974-90 member of the VBK of the GDR, 1981 awarded the Art Prize of the GDR, after a cerebral haemorrhage in 2004 he was in a vegetative state until his death, illustrated ca. 300 books, source: Eisold "Künstler in der DDR" and Wikipedia.
