Willy Tiedjen, Pair of Polar Bear Depictions
Rising from a pool and standing at a pool, skilfully captured animal depiction, mixed media, each signed and dated in the upper area "Willy Tiedjen. (19)04", framed as pendants under passepartout and behind glass, passepartout cut-out approx. 31 x 16 cm. Artist info: actually Carl Friedrich Emil Martin Wilhelm Tiedjen, also Tiedgen or Tietjen, German painter. Animal, landscape and marine painter (1881 Hamburg to 1950 Munich), 1901-02 pupil at the Hamburg School of Arts and Crafts, studied 1902-06 at the Munich Academy under Heinrich von Zügel, subsequently alternating stays in Munich, Karlsruhe, Hamburg, Nordwijk in the Netherlands and Wörth am Rhein, undertook study trips to Holland and Switzerland, from 1912 resident in Munich, participated in exhibitions in the Munich Glass Palace and the Great German Art Exhibitions in Munich, member of the Munich Artists' Association, the Reichsverband Bildender Künstler Deutschlands, the Munich Artists' Association "Der Bund" and the Free Artists' Association Baden , source: Thieme-Becker, Vollmer, Dressler, Rump, Bruckmann, Matrikel der Münchner Akademie and Internet.
