View of a chapel standing behind snow-covered trees under a blue sky, gouache, c. 1930, signed lower left "P. Neidhardt", mounted on cardboard and inscribed on the lower edge "Aus Rußland Kapelle (Rauhreif)", stamp on reverse "Der Stadtvorstand zu Gera", backing cardboard with tear and somewhat stained, framed under mount and behind glass, mount cut-out approx. 21.5 x 29.5 cm. Artist info: actually Paul Gustav Neidhardt, dt. Porcelain painter, painter and graphic artist (1873 Gera - 1951 Gera), 1887-90 apprenticeship as porcelain painter in Gera, 1890-94 pupil at the school of arts and crafts in Nuremberg, studied 1894-1904 at the academy of arts in Munich under Karl Raupp, 1904 return to Gera, Teacher at the construction school in Gera and the higher gardening school in Köstritz, ran a private painting and drawing school in Gera 1912-44, member of the late Dadaist association "pro pro bru (produktive-prominente-brummochsen)", honorary member and 1. Chairman of the Künstlerbund Ostthüringen, active in Gera, Source: Thieme-Becker, Vollmer, Dressler, Matrikel der Münchner Akademie and Internet.
