Salvador Dali, Surreal Composition
Graphic after the painting "Dream caused by the flight of a bee around a pomegranate, one second before waking up" by Salvador Dali from 1944, which is now in the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, Madrid, colour lithograph, 1979, below the image in lead right "Dali" and left numbered "175/300", lower left dry stamp partly covered by the passepartout, foxing, framed under passepartout and behind glass, image dimensions approx. 57,5 x 45,5 cm, enclosed certificate of authenticity by Artco France. Artist info: actually Salvador Dali y Domenech, important Spanish painter, graphic artist and illustrator (1904 Figueras to 1989 Figueras), from 1916 lessons at the College of the Marists, from 1922 studies at the Academia San Fernando in Madrid and at the Escuela Catalana in Barcelona, 1928 trip to Paris to see Pablo Picasso, In 1929 he joined the Surrealist group around Breton, whose most important representative he was to become; in 1934 he married Gala and travelled to the USA, worked in Portlligat near Cadaqués; after the outbreak of the civil war in Spain he travelled to London and Italy; in 1940-48 he moved to Cleveland, Ohio, USA, and returned to Figueras and Púbol.
