She has been making her unusual typewriter graphics since the 1970s. It started with her bread and butter job as a typist, then as an office manager in an East Berlin company. Her imagination made her "write" graphic images out of boring letters and numbers. At home at the kitchen table, she typed serial patterns and ornaments out of A-Z, zeros, commas and plus signs on her "Erika", bestseller among typewriters in the GDR.
