humorous summer beer garden scene above a romantic small town, below drinking verses "Als Moses einstmals in der Wüst'...", mixed media, heliogravure after Hermann Stockmann, probably watercoloured by Artur Dorn-München, signed and dated at lower centre "H. Stockmann 1901", on the reverse dedication "Zur Erinnerung an den Hochzeitstag 3. Oktober 1903. Hermann Wieland München", a little bit stained, originally framed behind glass, folding dimensions approx. 42 x 22 cm. Artist info: Germ. Painter, draughtsman, commercial artist, designer and illustrator (1867 Passau to 1938 Dachau), from 1881 in Munich, first apprenticeship as a decorative painter, studied 1885-94 at the Munich Academy under Gabriel von Hackl, 1889-94 master student under Johann Caspar Herterich and Wilhelm von Diez, member of the artists' society Allotria, over 30 years contributor to the Munich magazine "Fliegende Blätter", from 1896 contributor to the "Jugend", 1898 moved to Dachau, founder of the Dachau Museum Society and the Picture Gallery, co-founder and honorary member of the Dachau Artists' Association, 1910 appointed academy professor by Prince Regent Luitpold, received numerous honours, from 1927 honorary citizen of Dachau, member of the Reichsverband Bildender Künstler Deutschlands and the Luitpold Group Munich Association, Source: Thieme-Becker, Vollmer, Saur "Bio-Bibliographisches Künstlerlexikon", Matrikel der Münchner Akademie, Dressler, Wikipedia, Bruckmann "Münchner Maler des 19./20th century", Müller-Singer, Ries, Fleming, Reitmeier "Dachau ein Kunstbilderbuch", Thiemann-Stoedtner/Hanke "Dachauer Maler" and articles by Dr. Wilfried Hartleb.
