Artist's info: Germ. Graphic artist and caricaturist (1908 Posen/Poland until 1991 Berlin), studied art history in Breslau and 1925-26 at the State Academy of Arts and Crafts in Breslau under Otto Mueller, 1928-33 worked for several Berlin newspapers, 1929 joined the Association of Revolutionary Visual Artists, member of the KPD, 1934 imprisoned in Brandenburg prison and Buchenwald concentration camp on charges of preparation for high treason, from 1945-50 co-editor of the satirical magazine Ulenspiegel, 1947-61 created numerous stage designs together with his wife under the name Sandbergkollektiv, 1954-57 editor-in-chief of the magazine Bildende Kunst, 1970-72 guest lecturer at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst, 1972 appointed professor, 1954-90 worked for the magazine Das Magazin under the name Der freche Zeichenstift, also worked for Neues Deutschland and NBI, Source: Eisold "Künstler in der DDR" and Wikipedia.
