Spring-like view of the interconnected fish ponds known as "Giersdorfer Teiche" [stawy Podgórzyńskie] at the foot of the Krkonoše Mountains, atmospheric colour etching on paper, mid-20th century, signed by hand "Fried. Iwan", titled on the reverse, framed behind glass and passepartout (bumped), passepartout approx. 26,5 x 33,5 cm. Artist's info: called "Schnee-Iwan", germ. Painter, graphic artist and ex-libris artist (1889 Landeshut in Lower Silesia to 1967 Wangen in Allgäu), studied 1903-08 at the Royal School of Arts and Crafts in Breslau with Carl Ernst Morgenstern and 1910-14 at the Berlin Academy of Arts, member of the Reichsverband Bildender Künstler Deutschlands and the Freie Vereinigung der Graphiker zu Berlin, active first in Krummhübel, later in Hirschberg in the Riesengebirge, after 1946 in Wangen, source: Vollmer and Dressler.
