1974/82, unsigned, bronze brown patinated, part of the group of three "Bild des Hoffens", strongly stylised depiction of a man with his hands raised hopefully towards the sky, his gaze also directed upwards, moving surface structure, on small angular plinth, good condition, h 22 cm. Artist info: German sculptor (1902 Erlangen to 1984 Pavoldingen), was supposed to take over his parents' carpentry business, but resisted because he lacked the support to study at the Munich Academy of Art, he enrolled in the art history course in Erlangen, but instead of studying, he trained as a carpenter, his parents stipulated that he should first train as a drawing teacher, which he successfully did at the Technical University of Munich in 1931, then studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich under Hermann Hahn, whose master student he became together with Fritz Wrampe, 1926-27 at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts and the Académie Julian in Paris, learned the technique of bronze casting in the lost wax process autodidactically, travelled through Italy, from 1932 employment as head of the casting workshop of the Academy where he taught until 1970, he set up a department there for bronze casting using the lost wax process, from 1952 he also held a professorship at the Munich Academy, took part in numerous exhibitions, his works are shown by museums and also in public spaces.
