Artist info: actually Margarete (1883 Luckenwalde to 1967 Halle), her family (hat manufacturers) supported her in her artistic education, as women were not allowed to study at the state academy in Prussia, she took private lessons with Fritz Klimsch and Max Kruse in Berlin and Ulfert Janssen in Munich, travelled to Paris in 1911/12, where she was strongly influenced by Aristide Maillol and Auguste Rodin, from 191 resident in Halle/Saale, she is known for portrait busts of scientific greats, but also of women and children from her circle of acquaintances and friends, she withdrew from public life during the Nazi era.
