Edmund Gomanski, courting capercaillie
circa 1920/25, signed "E. Gomanski", foundry stamp Lauchhammer Bildguss with number 23, bronze dark brown patinated, capercaillie sitting on bronze pedestal in courtship display with head held high and wings and tail feathers spread, in good condition for age, h 14 cm. Artist's info: also Gomansky, German sculptor (1854 Stettin to 1930 Berlin), studied at the Berlin Academy, later under Rudolf Siemering, exhibited almost annually at the Great Berlin Art Exhibition from 1880 onwards, at the beginning he created portrait busts, later genre figures and from 1911 onwards he shifted to bronze sculptures of exotic birds.
