undoubtedly dated 1957?, signed, label with handwriting on the bottom: "Aurelio De Felice Scuola d'Arte Volterra "Madre e Figlio"....", art casting, partly coloured, stylised and abstracted depiction of a mother with her son in her arms, mounted on a wooden plinth, somewhat cracked due to the manufacturing process, h sculpture approx. 48 cm, h total approx. 55 cm. Artist info: Italian sculptor (1915 Torre Orsina until 1996 ibid.), studied at the Scuola Romana, at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and got a professorship there, he taught and was also artistically active and exhibited his works, at the end of the 2nd World War he travelled Europe. At the end of World War II he travelled through Europe, he founded a school for Italian art in Paris on behalf of the Italian Foreign Ministry, there he met important French artists such as Pablo Picasso, Fernand Léger, Jean Cocteau and others, in 1961 he founded the Institute of Arts in Terni, in 1967 he directed the Italian Art Institute in Hamburg and the Centre for Italian Studies in Zurich, was invited to a conference on Orneore Metelli in Tokyo, in 1982 his last exhibition took place, an accident moved him to retire to his self-chosen exile near his birthplace, De Felice is considered one of the most important examples of the movement against the Novecento Italiano, his masterpieces are exhibited all over the world.
