Antique reception head of Hygieia
Early 20th century, maker's mark Terre Cuite d'Art Grandeau, terracotta mat cream and sand-coloured glazed, mounted on a stained wooden base, tiny signs of age and superficial missing parts, h head approx. 26 cm, h total approx. 39 cm. Info: the marble original is in the National Archaeological Museum of Athens with inventory number 3602, it is dated to the third quarter of the 4th century BC and was found around 1900/02 during French excavations in Tegea.
