After Jean-Antoine Houdon, child's bust
Around 1900, unsigned and unmarked, stucco painted brown, chest piece of a boy in a frilled shirt, the head with lovely face and curly hair turned to the left, depicting the later chemist, mineralogist, geologist as well as zoologist Alexandre Brongniart (1770-1847) as the seven-year-old son of the architect Alexandre-Théodore Brongniart (1739-1813), on a profiled round base of blackened wood, this with drying cracks, otherwise good, expertly restored condition, h bust 39 cm, h total 52 cm.
