Antonio Frilli, Gallant Dancing Couple
2nd half of the 19th century, signed on the back A. Frilli Firenze, alabaster partially coloured, young gallant and lady in dancing pose on a rose-decorated plinth, hairline cracks, insignificantly bumped in places, h 58 cm. Artist's info: Antonio Frilli (c. 1850 to 1920?), active in Florence, belonged to the artists who made intensive use of numerous Roman models, founded a workshop in Florence around 1876, which specialised in the production of finely executed sculptures in marble and alabaster, female nudes, busts, but also mythological scenes and reproductions of antique sculptures were part of Frilli's œuvre.
