Franz Iffland, large archer
c. 1900, signed "F. Iffland.", bronze dark patinated, standing male nude with bow raised to the sky, his nakedness covered with a fig leaf, on the antique helmet a winged mythological creature, without arrow, on naturalistic shaped plinth, loosely mounted on a round serpentine base, swinging out at the bottom, this with small missing parts, h bronze 60 cm, h total 67 cm. Artist info: Sculptor in Berlin (1862-1935), was often represented at Berlin exhibitions with portrait busts and genre figures (several academy exhibitions, international exhibition in 1891 and large art exhibition in 1893), took part without success in the competition for the Lessing monument in Berlin in 1886.
