Emmanuel Villanis, bust "La Sibylle"
c. 1900, signed on the shoulder "E. Villanis", stamped "Société des Bronzes de Paris" and letter P, titled on the recto "La sibylle", bronze polychrome painted in cold colours, depicting a bust in oriental-looking garment and headband, all decorated with coins and fringes, on a red marble base with bevelled upper edges, tiny rubbed in parts, h bronze c. 19,5 cm, h overall c. 22 cm. Artist's note: French sculptor (1858 Lille to 1914 Paris), trained at the Academia Albertina di Belle Arti Turin, worked mainly in Paris, preferred busts of young women. Source: Cf.
