Meissen "Solo Dancer Frida Hess in Pose"
Designed by Theodor Eichler in 1908, underglaze blue pommel sword mark 1860-1924, one underline, incised model number Y.195. and embossed bossing number 143, naturalistic design with delicate polychrome onglaze painting and discreet gold decoration, on a flat plinth with tile decoration a young dancer wearing a pancake tutu, in a reclined pose kneeling on one leg and the other stretched out, depicting Margareta Frieda Heß (1886 Dresden to 1972 Springfield/USA), employed as a solo dancer in the corps de ballet of the Dresden Court Theatre from 1906-1917, rare figure in expertly restored condition, underside of skirt minimally chipped, h 13.5 cm.
