Letter from Frederick William I King of Prussia
and Margrave and Elector of Brandenburg (1688 Cölln to 1740 Potsdam), the legendary "Soldier King" and father of Frederick the Great to Lieutenant-General von Marwitz. "My dear General Lieutenant von Marwitz. The letter of the Royal Danish General Löwenohr sent by you with your presentation of the 14th of this month is returned here, and as I am ... satisfied], you may occasionally assure him of my most gracious remembrance and goodwill, but it has remained with me that you, as I understand, will conurtiret [coordinate] the answer to be sent to him with the Counts of Stollberg beforehand. ...". The addressee is probably Major General Heinrich Karl von der Marwitz (1680 Sellin to 1744 Breslau). From 1720 he was a member of the Prussian Tobacco College of the Soldier-King and from 1724 chief of the Old Prussian Infantry Regiment "von Dönhoff" in Halberstadt, appointed Knight of the "Black Eagle Order" in 1739. Given on 17 March 1739 in Potsdam and signed by the King, condition for age on laid paper, dimensions 19 x 23 cm.
